Greg Van Avermaet: "I gave it my best shot

"There was a nice group of eight riders breakaways and it could have gone far but in the end, not everyone was interested in riding. So I went alone, fortunately joined by Kluge. We worked well together. I gave it my best shot to go as far as possible. For a long time we had a 40-second lead but with the peloton chasing us and the sprinters determined to fight it out before the more difficult stages, it wasn't possible. I'm glad I was able to get on the podium for the fighting spirit award."[/su_quote]
