"It's a great reward to be on the podium at the world championships with Mathieu Van der Poel and Tadej Pogacar. I've had some good results this year, and I think this podium is a continuation of that. I'm really proud because I wasn't expecting it today, but I think I just had very good timing in the final, which enabled me to finish second. I wanted to stay at the back and sneak into the middle, because when you attack from the side, everyone sees you. I found the perfect moment, and managed to open up a small gap, after which I had to give it my all right up to the line. Finishing second here at the World Championships is an incredible feeling, and I'm a very happy man.
