Benoit Cosnefroy: "The momentum is there

"It's a good podium even if I would have preferred to win. Kwiatkowski was faster than me in the sprint. It was a very close call. We can be proud of this podium as a team.
I felt good and the goal was to be in front. I felt during the race that I was among the strongest. In the final, I did a good part of the work.
There are three Ardennes left and the momentum is there."

The number

3

With his second place finish in the Amstel Gold Race, Benoit Cosnefroy is on the podium of a UCI WorldTour one-day race for the third time after his second place in the Flèche Wallonne in 2020 and his victory in the Bretagne Classic in 2021.

The news

This is the second time since the creation of the team in 1992 that a rider has stood on the podium of the Amstel Gold Race.
Rolf Jaermann won the race in 1998.
