Marc Sarreau
"A real relief
"It's a real relief to win my first race of the season. Up until now, I've had a complicated year, disrupted by health problems. I was still ill before the start of the Tour Poitou-Charentes in New Aquitaine. I was looking for new sensations and confidence, and this success validates all my hard work. I'm really happy. It's ideal to get going again for the last part of the season, when I'll be ambitious.
The Tour Poitou-Charentes en Nouvelle Aquitaine is a race that suits me. It's already my sixth stage win here. This last stage was really tough. The peloton rode hard all day in favor of a massive finish. My team-mates placed me very well on the main climb of the final circuit. Behind, I trusted my instincts for the sprint. It was a demanding finish, so I chose to make my effort as late as possible. This strategy paid off.
